You might experience tooth decay or dental caries due to exposure to large amounts of starch, acid and sugars. Your tooth enamel is eaten away by these and they also team up with the bacteria surviving in your mouth to develop plaque. Consuming carbohydrate-rich food such as cookies, candy, soda and fruit juice act as causal agents for this disease. The accumulation of these combines with plaque to cause tooth decay. But, this condition can be easily prevented through routine dental care.
Your teeth are subject to expansion and contraction with changes in temperature. As a result, hot and cold drinks or food can cause irritation in your gums and teeth. With the passage of time, this can wear down your tooth enamel to cause receding gums or the creation of small cracks in teeth. This gives rise to extreme tooth sensitivity when even breathing cold air
This disease is responsible for both bone damage and tooth loss. It starts with plaque and worsens with the swelling and bleeding gums, which characterize the early stages of gingivitis. Continuous bad breath or taste in the mouth is usually considered to be a warning sign of the onset of gum disease. This is followed by periodontitis, in which stage teeth loss or need for tooth removal arises. This disease can be easily prevented by brushing and flossing daily.
Canker sores are characterized by tiny sores in the mouth that might occur repeatedly, also called aphthous ulcers. Normally lasting about a week or two, these sores can be eliminated sooner by using topical agents or antimicrobial mouthwashes.
The occurrence of these issues are often related to inheritance. Also termed as malocclusion, these issues are marked by misalignment of the top and bottom line of teeth. This is most commonly caused by extra or missing teeth or improper alignment of the jaw. Other causes include developmental issues, injuries, or thumb or finger sucking habits for a long time.
